The Foreign Office on Thursday announced that the Pakistani chargé d'affaires to Afghanistan would not return to Kabul until the security of the diplomatic staff is ensured.
During a press briefing, FO Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said that Pak-Afghan authorities were in touch regarding the Chaman incident wherein six civilians were martyred and over two dozen sustained injuries when Afghan forces fired rockets into the Pakistani territory from across the Chaman border.
The spokesperson stated that Islamabad wanted security for the Pakistani embassy and diplomatic staff to be ensured. She added that the Pakistani chargé d'affaires to Afghanistan was still in Pakistan and would remain here until security was guaranteed.
The spokesperson further said that the president of Tajikistan was on a two-day visit to Pakistan and met with the minister of defence and the Senate chairperson today.
During his visit, cooperation agreements and memorandums of understanding (MoU) were signed in important sectors, including trade, climate change and transport.

Baloch also said that the Tajik president said that CASA-1000 – the Central Asia-South Asia (CASA-1000) power line – was a milestone project.
She added that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will visit Dushanbe next year.
Moreover, the spokesperson highlighted that Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto was on a visit to the United States and met with the deputy secretary general of the United Nations and the president of the General Assembly of the UN.
FM Bilawal will meet UN Secretary General António Guterres today.
According to the spokesperson, Secretary General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation Hissein Brahim Taha met PM Shehbaz during his visit to Pakistan and travelled to the Line of Control. He also met with the president and prime minister of Azad Kashmir.
She announced that in January next year, a donors’ conference for the rehabilitation of the flood victims will be held in Geneva, and will be chaired by PM Shehbaz and UNSG António Guterres.
