He added that there were close to 450,000 immunisation shots administered across the country yesterday (Sunday) and around six million doses are also scheduled to arrive. “The current situation is such that we are witnessing a rise in Covid cases and only with the implementation and adoption of the existing restrictive measures can we hope to control the spread,” Sultan added. The SAPM also lamented that the country has been careless with the handling of the virus. In addition, the PM's aide said that the new variants, such as the Delta variant from India, are also adversely affecting the epidemic situation in the country. “The solution lies in complying with the restrictions imposed by the government.” He further appealed to the masses to wear a face mask at all times and avoid crowded areas under any circumstances. He added that special focus will be on large cities and tourist destinations. “We will take all the administrative help we require to implement restrictions, along with military assistance,” he said. “We will once again impose smart lockdowns, owing to their effectiveness in the past and will restrict public mobility,” the special assistant to prime minister asserted.
