    Punjab Governor Accepts Buzdars Resignation As Chief Minister 15088
    Description: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) leader Usman Buzdar's resignation as the chief minister of Punjab has been accepted, following which the Punjab cabinet was dissolved. According to Express News, Governor Punjab Chaudhry Sarwar accepted Buzdar's resignation after receiving it two days ago. Moreover, the governor has summoned the provincial assembly session for tomorrow to elect a new chief minister. Prime Minister Imran Khan took Buzdar’s resignation four days before offering the chair to Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid’s (PML-Q) Chaudhry Pervez Elahi. Buzdar’s resignation Usman Buzdar had tendered his resignation to PM Imran after the joint opposition submitted a no-trust motion against Buzdar in the provincial assembly, citing “poor performance”. The lawmakers maintained that the CM had lost majority support as matters pertaining to the province were not being dealt with constitutionally and democratically. Earlier this week, the premier offered the Punjab chief minister’s slot to PML-Q leader Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, the incumbent provincial assembly speaker. The decision was taken after Elahi called on the PM at his residence in Bani Gala to discuss the ongoing political situation, especially, the no-confidence motion against him. “I have taken the resignation from Usman Bazdar and I congratulate Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi for being nominated from my party’s side as the chief minister of Punjab,” the official statement from the PML-Q quoted the premier as saying during the meeting.
