In 2025 alone, record petroleum levy receipts of Rs1,493.73 billion were collected, compared to Rs1,095.86 billion in 2024.
This marks an increase of Rs397.86 billion in 2025 compared to the previous year.
Quarterly data for 2025 shows that petroleum levy revenue stood at Rs284.43 billion during the January–March period.
In the April–June quarter, collections rose to Rs386.37 billion, while Rs371.61 billion was generated in the July–September quarter.
The October–December quarter saw the highest collection, reaching Rs451.32 billion.
Additionally, Rs25.48 billion was collected separately under the climate support levy between July and December 2025.
Sources noted that petroleum levy revenue remains solely with the federal government, unlike tax revenue collected by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), which is transferred to the provinces under the NFC Award.
