As discussions about Mamdani’s lookalikes picked up online, Junaid Khan jokingly expressed a hope for VIP treatment in the city, while Arsalan Naseer humorously speculated about possible family ties.
Resharing a post claiming Mamdani resembles Kamzarf actor Junaid, Khan wrote, “Hopefully I’ll get some VIP treatment when I visit New York next.”
Meanwhile, Arslan also took the comparison in stride, replying sarcastically to a netizen: “Yes, guys, it’s true, he’s my cousin.”
“Congrats, Pakistan—we now have a cousin as NYC mayor,” he added.
Mamdani became popular in Pakistan after winning NYC’s mayoral elections.
The 34-year-old election winner was born in Uganda to a family of Indian origin and has lived in the United States since he was seven, becoming a naturalised US citizen in 2018.
