Backlash Grows Over Ali ZafarAli Haiders Zalim Nazron Se Music Video Aesthetic 74504
    Description:

Produced by Shani Haider, the remake fuses Jawaid Akhtar’s timeless composition with Roshan Naginavi’s original lyrics. Speaking about the collaboration, Ali Zafar called working with Haider “a joy and an honour,” saying the project was intended to celebrate “our memories” of the beloved classic while giving it “a new journey.” Zafar also expressed gratitude to lyricist Roshan Naginavi and composer Jawaid Akhtar for their lasting contributions to Pakistani pop music.

The music video—shot in Los Angeles—features retro-inspired visuals, bold colours, and choreographed dance sequences.

Zafar appears in sleek red, white, and blue outfits, dancing around a polished sports car, while Ali Haider sports a black leather trench coat and sunglasses, giving him a rock-star edge. Behind them, a troupe of dancers in fitted, all-black costumes add a disco-infused Western aesthetic.

The result is a stylised, cinematic look that sharply contrasts with the simplicity of the original 1990s video.

The release quickly drew strong reactions from fans. Many praised the collaboration, with comments such as “Now this is called Parda Phaar collaboration…” and “What a legendary comeback.” However, others criticised the visual direction as unnecessarily flashy.

One viewer commented, “You guys can carry the video by yourself. No need for nang pung (nudity).” Another wrote, “There wasn’t any need of cars and girls. You both were enough.

Ruined the song.” Even a fan who hailed it as “the best collaboration in decades” expressed disappointment with the visuals, calling it “the worst tribute to the song itself … western dancers are ruining it.”

Fan singled out the “nangi gori larkiyan” (slang for scantily-clad fair-skinned girls) as “so unnecessary here,” while another user (@mrzeek) simply asked, “Why ruining our nostalgia?” These comments show how attached listeners are to the original. Many fans felt the singers’ own charisma would have been enough without extra frills.

Still, the artists emphasise that the remake is meant as a tribute. As Zafar put it, the updated version “celebrates our memories” of the classic even as it ushers the song into a new generation.
