The hearing could not proceed as the FIA failed to present the complete record of the case in court, preventing the lawyers from making their arguments.
The court directed the FIA to submit the complete record in the next hearing.
In a separate development, the court accepted a request to exempt Arooj Jatoi, wife of Dacky Bhai, from appearing in court. Her interim bail hearing was also extended until January 26.
The FIA has registered a case against Rajab Butt, Nadim Mubarak Naniwala, Aroob Jatoi, and Ducky Bhai in connection with illegal gambling activities.
During the bail plea hearing, Butt, appearing along with Naniwala, was reportedly attacked by lawyers inside the court premises.
The assault allegedly followed a vlog in which Butt made comments about the lawyers involved in his previous court appearance.
Confirming the incident, his lawyer, Advocate Mian Ali Ashfaq, stated that Butt was physically harmed despite being represented in court, calling the attack “an unfortunate act with no place in any educated society.”
During the hearing, the court extended Butt’s interim bail until January 13, 2026, while his case remains under review.
Legal developments surrounding Butt have also involved his lawyer, Mian Ali Ashfaq, who had his practising licence suspended by the Punjab Bar Council.
Ashfaq is challenging the suspension in the Lahore High Court, arguing that the decision was unjust and that the Karachi Bar Association should be included as a respondent in the case.
