Zindagi Trust is an NGO founded by the singer himself with the motive to reform government schools in Pakistan.
Taking to his Instagram, Roy posted a video in which he was seen interacting with a young student and discussing about the accents of English across the world and communication.
The student asked the singer about some TV shows and he corrected their mispronounced names.
The child broke out and told him that she speaks Punjabi at home and even learnt Urdu in school. English is her third language.
Then she asked Roy, “What language do you dream in?”
Quoting the World Englishes concept, she said that English belongs to everyone and everyone can speak in their own regional accent. The main focus is on the communication, not the accent.
An another video, Shehzad was seen sitting on the swings with another student and discussing the education system in their school.
The student told him that their school has the most highly qualified and ‘licensed’ teachers.
She then explained that the students take breakfast upon reaching the school.
They learn through visual examples of the phenomenon they are studying and also learn coding.
In the caption, it was said that, “A strong education doesn't just teach - it transforms perspectives.”
Shehzad Roy is a renowned singer and a humanitarian working for the causes of focus on education, and child labor and child rights.
He has also served twice as the National Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), focusing on drug demand reduction, prevention, and treatment.
