Sharing her apology clip on Instagram, the Monkey Business director praised Nida’s long-standing experience with live broadcasting, referring to her as the “queen of live shows.”
He added that anyone who speaks live as frequently as she does is bound to make occasional mistakes, remarking, “Live bolna bachon ka khel nahi hai.”
Hussain’s message surfaced as Nida’s earlier comments—made during a lighthearted segment on her show—continued to circulate online.
In the viral clip, she recounted an encounter with a rider who reportedly did not carry change and went on to generalise that many riders behave similarly.
She also mentioned that she sometimes keeps riders waiting so they “learn” to bring change, a remark that triggered widespread backlash.
Critics on social media called the comments insensitive, noting the long hours, low wages, and tight deadlines delivery workers face.
Some riders even recorded a response video addressing the host of Good Morning Pakistan.
In response to the growing criticism, Nida opened her next episode with a clarification and an unconditional apology.
She said she had no intention of targeting all riders, stressing that her complaint stemmed from one specific incident and was misinterpreted as a general statement.
Emphasising that live television leaves no room for retakes, she said that her “choice of words” was poor and apologised to any rider who felt misrepresented or hurt by the segment.
She added that she values the service riders provide and often speaks in their support.
It was this apology that prompted Hussain’s defence.
In his view, the volume of live hours she has hosted makes occasional misstatements almost inevitable, and he urged audiences to extend the same margin of error to television hosts that they allow in everyday conversation.
