In an explanatory decree issued on Monday, Ayatollah Khamenei said that all officials and managers appointed by the late Leader of the Islamic Revolution must continue serving in their positions in accordance with the directives and instructions previously given to them.
He added that none of those officials will need an official decree to renew their mandates, at least for the time being.
The endorsement comes a week after Iran’s Assembly of Experts appointed Ayatollah Khamenei as the third Leader of the Islamic Revolution following his father’s assassination in a joint US-Israeli terrorist airstrike targeting his office in Tehran on February?28.
The attack, which also killed several high?profile military commanders, provoked a massive response from the Iranian armed forces, targeting US military assets in regional countries and locations in the Israeli?occupied territories.
Ayatollah Khamenei issued his first written message to the Iranian nation last week, saying he would continue his father’s policies of resisting hegemony and imperialism and defending the world’s oppressed.
He also made clear that Iran will persist in fighting the ongoing war of aggression by the United States and Israel until the aggressors are fully punished.
Based on Iran’s Constitution, the Leader directly appoints senior commanders of the main branches of the Iranian military, as well as the heads of the judiciary, the Guardian Council, the Expediency Council, state television, the leaders of Friday prayers in provincial capitals, and several other organizations.
