Minister of Information Fawad Chaudhry on Saturday expressed hope that four dissident Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawmakers would return to the party’s ranks today.
Flanked by Sindh Governor Imran Ismail and Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Ali Haider Zaidi, the information minister's remarks came while addressing the media in Islamabad.
“One of the MNAs has replied and said that he had not breached party discipline. The reply of another MNA is expected soon. Minster Asad Umar is meeting with him as we speak,” the information minister said.
Regarding government allies, Fawad said discussions were held yesterday with with PML-Q and the process would continue tonight.
On the no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan, Fawad said people would disagree with the oppositions’ stance.

“Tomorrow, in the historic gathering, the people would snub the corrupt practices of horse-trading. It is for the first time after Zulfikar Ali Bhutto that the foreign policy of Pakistan is free, the wheel of the economy is turning in the right direction. The people would make sure that the conspiracy against what Prime Minister Imran Khan has achieved fails,” the minister said.
He also urged the people coming to tomorrow’s rally to maintain discipline and follow the guidelines provided by the Supreme Court and the Islamabad High Court.
“Everything should remain peaceful and no major causeways are to be blocked,” Fawad urged.
'IG Sindh is asleep'
Minister Zaidi, while directly addressing Sindh's chief of police, asked if he was the inspector general for all of Sindh or a ‘slave’ of Bilawal House.

The minister claimed he had reports that MNA Jam Abdul Karim had returned to Pakistan while the Sindh IG was ‘asleep’.
“Whatever is happening in Sindh today is due to your performance. It is in your tenure that about 50,000 incidents of street crime occurred in just two months. You do nothing about it, but when our workers do a peaceful protest, the Sindh Police registers FIRs of kidnapping and trespassing,” he said.
Zaidi further asked the Sindh IG what kind of a legacy would he leave after he retires from the police force.
“You do not know that a murderer has returned? Are you sleeping all the time? I demand of the IG to leave a better legacy and take back the FIRs that are registered against the PTI workers. We are peaceful people, but do not force our hand, to hold a sit-in outside someone’s house,” the minister said.
Governor Ismail said that a meeting of the party’s core committee was held today during which Prime Minister Imran Khan shared his views wholeheartedly.
“All the members of the committee agreed with the PM’s views. The PM would show his trump card soon to the people,” the governor said.
Regarding the murder of Nazim Jokhio, Governor Ismail said that he had written a letter to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to arrest PPP MNA Jam Abdul Karim when he returns to Pakistan from Dubai.
“I have information that he (Jam Karim) is about to return to Pakistan. When courts call them they fall ill and go abroad but when there is horse-trading, they return. He would be dealt with according to law and the Constitution,” he said.
