    The reaffirmation was made at a meeting between President Asif Ali Zardari and Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan.

    According to the joint statement issued after their talks, the two sides emphasized the particular importance of deepening trade, economic and investment cooperation.

    The Heads of State reaffirmed their readiness to provide comprehensive support for the development of direct contacts between the business communities of the two countries, including chambers of commerce and industry, investment promotion agencies, banking and financial institutions and to encourage the implementation of joint projects and the establishment of joint ventures.

    They noted the considerable potential for expanding cooperation in the energy sector, particularly through the effective implementation of the CASA-1000 Project.

    The Heads of State emphasized the strategic importance of strengthening transport connectivity between Central and South Asia and reaffirmed the importance of the practical implementation of the agreements reached in the fields of transport, logistics and transit.

    They reiterated their readiness to continue joint work on the effective use of the potential of Pakistan's seaports, the further development of multimodal transport, the promotion of international transport corridors connecting Central and South Asia, as well as the use of the transit and logistics potential of the Kyrgyz Republic in the interests of ensuring access to the markets of the Central Asian countries and the Eurasian Economic Union.

    The Heads of State emphasized the importance of taking additional measures to increase cargo transportation volumes and create favorable conditions for the sustainable operation of transport and logistics routes.

    The Presidents reaffirmed their mutual interest in further developing cooperation in the fields of education, science, culture, tourism, youth exchanges, medical and public health exchanges, including cooperation in medical education quality assurance and professional regulatory collaboration and in strengthening people-to-people contacts between the two countries.

    Condemning terrorist attacks in the region and beyond, the leaders reaffirmed that peace and stability in the region are critical for progress and prosperity. They agreed to work together at all forums, including the UN, SCO and OIC to combat terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.

    The Kyrgyz Republic commended Pakistan's mediation efforts for peace and stability in the Middle East, and welcomed in this regard the signing of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). Both sides expressed the hope that the Islamabad MoU will lay the foundation of lasting peace and stability in the region and beyond.

    They emphasized prompt and peaceful settlement of all disputes and resolution of all outstanding conflicts through peaceful means, in line with the principles and purposes of the UN Charter, instead of resorting to unilateralism. They agreed that a secure and conducive environment is necessary to realize the enormous potential of cooperation and connectivity between Central Asia and South Asia.

    In his remarks during the delegation-level talks with the Kyrgyz President, President Asif Ali Zardari said Pakistan deeply values its close brotherly relations with Kyrgyzstan, which are rooted in a shared faith, common history and cultural ties.

    He said both countries should work together to further strengthen cooperation across diverse fields while also collaborating to promote international peace.

    The President also emphasized the need to enhance air connectivity by increasing the number of flights between the two countries.

    Asif Ali Zardari's visit, underscores the enduring friendship and time tested relations between Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan, based on common faith, shared history and cultural affinity.

    He also congratulated the Kyrgyz President on the country's historic election as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the 2027-2028 term.

    The meeting was preceded by an official welcoming ceremony held in honour of the President of Pakistan at the Rukh Ordo Cultural Centre.

    A Memorandum of Understanding, between the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan was signed.

    The meeting was followed by an official reception, hosted by the Kyrgyz President, in honour of the President of Pakistan.

    It is pertinent to mention that President Asif Ali Zardari was accompanied by a high-level delegation during the meeting.
