Pakistanfully Capable Of Meeting Security Challenges 16824
Description: Pakistani security forces are fully capable of meeting new security challenges, the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and ensuring the security of Chinese and institutions in Pakistan, a Chinese expert said on Monday. "Objectively speaking, due to the deterioration of the regional security situation and the proxy war launched by the regional power, Pakistan is currently facing security challenges," said Cheng Xizhong, Visiting Professor at Southwest University of Political Science and Law. He noted the overall security situation of the country has improved in the past 10 to 15 years due to the strong and effective measures taken by the government and security forces. The expert believed the government and law enforcement departments had sufficient capacity, but also attached great importance to ensuring the safety of their own citizens and foreigners. Prof Cheng, who is also Senior Fellow of the Charhar Institute, further observed that Pakistan had taken special security measures for Chinese citizens, institutions and projects as well as for CPEC. The expert noted that after the Karachi attack, Pakistani leaders visited the Chinese embassy to pay their condolences. Moreover, different social sectors in Pakistan expressed their condemnation and condolences. This, he maintained, once again fully demonstrated the all-weather strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries and their firm determination to cooperate to meet the prevailing security challenges. "Terrorists and those supporting such activities to undermine China-Pakistan mutual trust and cooperation and the development of CPEC are doomed to complete failure," he concluded.
