Pakistani officials say that the Afghan interim government has been repeatedly demanded to prevent the use of its territory by terrorist groups and foreign proxies, however, according to them, no effective and verifiable steps have been taken so far.
The statement said that Pakistan has always made efforts for peace and stability in the region, but the protection of lives and property of its citizens is the top priority. In this context, Pakistan took retaliatory action and targeted terrorist camps and hideouts in areas close to the Pak-Afghan border on the basis of intelligence.
Pakistan has expected the interim Afghan government to fulfill its responsibility and not allow its territory to be used against Pakistan. Moreover, Pakistan has also called on the international community to urge the Taliban government to abide by the promises made under the Doha Agreement and prevent its territory from being used against other countries.
According to officials, these steps are indispensable for regional and global peace and security.
