Speaking to the media at Avenfield in London before her departure, Maryam Nawaz emphasized that her government has not taken any actions driven by revenge, stating that neither she nor PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif has ever targeted political opponents.
She referred to a report published in The Economist, saying that the international community is fully aware of its findings.
The Punjab Chief Minister assured that issues faced by overseas Pakistanis, particularly concerning the “illegal possession” of their land, would be resolved within weeks.
Maryam Nawaz also reflected on her and Nawaz Sharif’s past experiences, noting that they had been victims of political vendettas. She remarked that the world is aware of how governance in Pakistan was once influenced by superstition and witchcraft.
Additionally, the chief minister praised Field Marshal Asim Munir’s military leadership, claiming it brought Pakistan victory against India—a feat she said is recognized globally.
Questioning the judiciary’s past conduct, she asked why judges' “conscience did not awaken earlier,” stating that both she and Nawaz Sharif were wrongly convicted.
She added that judges’ consciences now appeared to be “politically awake.”
