Supreme Court Orders Eye Examination Of Imran Khan Reserves Verdict In Toshakhana Case 75502
    Description:

A two-member bench headed by the Chief Justice heard the petition filed against the trial proceedings in the Toshakhana case involving Imran Khan and his spouse. After hearing arguments from both sides, the court reserved its decision.

During the hearing, a medical and welfare report submitted by Barrister Salman Safdar, appointed as amicus curiae (friend of the court), was presented before the bench. The report stated that Imran Khan had expressed satisfaction with the security arrangements, food provisions, and overall facilities provided in jail.

Barrister Safdar read out the recommendations included in the report and requested that any medical examination be conducted in the presence of a family member. However, the court rejected the request for a family member’s presence during the medical check-up.

The Supreme Court directed that a team of doctors be formed to conduct Imran Khan’s eye examination and ordered that the medical check-up be completed before February 16.

Additionally, the court instructed authorities to provide him with certain books so that he may continue his reading. The bench also directed that arrangements be made for Imran Khan to speak with his children via telephone, with the process to be completed before February 16.

The Attorney General assured the court that all directives would be implemented in letter and spirit.
